1- Historical context / Events releases

In 1954, the racial segregation in the public schools is declared unconstitutional by an order of the Supreme court .

The following year, the boycott of the buses of Montgomery, directed by Martin Luther King, started after the arrest of Rosa Parks ( who will later be nicknamed ?mother of the movement of the civil rights?). She refused to leave her seat, in a bus, so that a white could sit down there.

In 1956, the Supreme court declared the racial segregation in the buses, in

    Alabama, unconstitutional.

In spite of many laws against segregation, the reality was different...

2- Cross portraits : Martin Luther King vs Malcolm X

    Martin Luther King :

A pastor's son, Martin Luther King (MLK) became one of the main defenders of the human rights and the peace of the last century.

Having grown in a society governed by segregation (in the South of the United States), he very quickly fought in favour of the integration of the African-American in the USA . His action started in 1955, during the boycott of public transport in Montgomery and continued in the demand of the ?Civil Rights?.

Stopped, insulted, death threaten, he always advocated non-violence: gatherings, march, demonstrations and civil disobedience. He also fought for ?Social Rights?, because the African-American were too often in poverty.

In 1964, he was the youngest prize winner of the Nobel Prize of peace to be rewarded : he was only 36 years old! It shows the importance of his commitment in favour of Human Rights and Peace...
