In 1954, the racial segregation in the public schools is declared unconstitutional by an order of the Supreme court.

The following year, the boycott of the buses of Montgomery, directed by Martin Luther King, started after the arrest of Rosa Parks ( who will later be nicknamed "mother of the movement of the civil rights"). She refused to leave her seat, in a bus, so that a white could sit down there. In 1956, the Supreme court declared the racial segregation in the buses, in Alabama, unconstitutional.
